For this collection, we decided to pay homage to the blazer, a sports jacket with military origins and links to sports clubs. The name originally comes from the English ‘to blaze’, meaning ‘to shine’ or ‘to sparkle’, in reference to the fact that these jackets were always made from particularly colourful fabrics to identify the members of a particular sports club. However, the use of a jacket in a different colour from the trousers, with metal buttons, is due to the military world: soldiers returning from the front, triumphant, liked to wear their uniform jacket with trousers in a different, more urban colour.
The green blazer is particularly associated with the world of golf, and in particular with the American Masters Tournament, one of the most prestigious competitions in this field, which takes place in Georgia. Since 1934, a green blazer has been offered as a prize to the winner of this sporting event.
We decided to cut our blazer in heavy carded flannel (450g) and with a silhouette that highlights the difference in proportions between the shoulders, waist and hips. The shoulder is slightly structured in the Roman tradition, and the proportions are inspired by jackets from the 40s and 80s.
